SUMMARY OF WORK

1. Replaced five roofs and sheet rocked the homes near Valley Hope EPC in Swannanoa Valley, North Carolina.

2. Replaced eight roofs and repaired the interior through Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in Selma, Alabama.

WORK OF THE COMMITTEE

The Disaster Relief Committee had four video conferences: July 10, 2025, September 18, 2025, November 6, 2025, and March 5, 2026.

The Disaster Relief Committee had an in-person retreat at the Office of the General Assembly in Orlando, Florida January 5-7, 2026.

The Disaster Relief Committee went to visit Dr John Uhl after the Texas Flooding on July 4, 2025. The DRC did send financial resources to Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church in Ingram, Texas. Ronney Harrell, Toni Harris, and Whitney Alexander, DRC committee members, went August 2-5, 2025, and it was decided unanimously to listen to the wants of Rev John Uhl.

The Disaster Relief Committee sent committee member, Toni Harris to Valley Hope Church for six weeks with a roofing team to replace five roofs and sheetrock these homes in Swannanoa Valley from October 25 till November 25.

The Disaster Relief Committee sent committee member, Toni Harris to Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in Selma, Alabama, and worked alongside Rev Steve Burton and Rev John Grayson (Gospel Tabernacle Church) in replacing eight roofs and sheet-rocking the interior of each home.

The intent of the committee is to possibly expand geographically to include representation from the Carolinas, the East, and the West Coast, increasing the committee from nine to twelve members in order to better respond to and serve those regions during disasters.
